Program Description

Event Details

Let’s view and discuss artworks that broke away from the traditional style of their time. We will not only explore the artists’ use of unconventional materials and how they used them, but also learn how they chose topics for their art that went against the mainstream. While there are some names you have likely heard of, you will also view the work and hear the stories of artists you may have never heard of before.

BPL is excited to welcome back Helane Rheingold. Through engaging commentary and questioning, Helane encourages viewers to learn and discover a new appreciation for art. Helane has worked as a docent at the Neuberger Museum of Art in Purchase, NY, an instructor at Learning in Retirement, Inc. in Stamford, CT, and an arts enrichment facilitator in the Stamford Public Schools.
