For many people the word “probate” triggers fear or anxiety of what the process to come may be like. But that does not necessarily have to be your experience! The probate process largely depends on your specific situation, and of course, is helped by being prepared and educated about the estate administration process. In this session, Attorney Jeff Rivard will ease some of the apprehension associated with probate by walking your through how probate works in Connecticut.  Additionally, he will explain who takes charge of a Will after someone dies, what happens if someone dies without a Will, how to avoid a lengthy probate process, and how tools such as a living trust can help avoid probate. And finally, you’ll learn about some of the potential pitfalls in the process and how careful planning can avoid them.
