Event Details
Johannes Brahms was one of the very few great composers who never wrote an opera. He toyed with the idea for many years. The closest he came to composing one was a forty minute long cantata entitled “Rinaldo,” written when he was in his thirties.
Jeffrey Engel will discuss young Brahms, why he decided to take on this operatic experiment and play excerpts.
